Spotlight/Shop Africa: Akabi Design

Mix a love for Africa, women and the enviroment and you have j'Quita's Akabi Design [Akabi is Greek for Love]. But what makes Akabi Design different, given that several other brands have the same selling points? Their pieces tell quite the story and it is clear an abundance of thought has gone into every aspect of production. From 100% Made in Africa cotton and eco-friendly batiks, to repurposed war parachute windbreaker jackets and print teddy bears, Akabi Design is our new favourite melting point for Made in Africa (organic cotton from Kenya, batik dyes from Ghana), eco-love and charity (a percentage of proceeds goes to a Kenya-based charity, Seeds of Hope). Here's a closer look at some of our favourite pieces:

Certainly very refreshing!
