hellooooo :) here are a few things we found interesting over the past week:
i. YSL's ashes to be kept in marrakesh, morocco
...and what a delightful choice for a final resting place!
more photos here.
may his soul rest in perfect peace.
ii. we've sometimes thought of fashion as a bit of a fickle construct. allow us to explain. one minute, everyone's very happily buying into the idea that 'purple is the new black' but the very next season, purple is right back in the garbage pile and doesn't 'inspire' anyone anymore! which has made us wonder - who exactly decides what's cool and when? remember this scene from 'the devil wears prada'?
fun times :) well, turns out the CFDA works overtime to ensure that we're all 'fashion forward' and embracing leggings and flowers (what? you thought you just happened to start liking flowers all of a sudden? pshhh! conditioning, my friends!) and wearing 'Jesus sandals' one season and calling them 'goliath sandals' or 'gladiators' the next...when they're essentially the same thing give or take a few studs and straps. SIGH. more here.
iii. fickle as fashion is, there are quite a few people out their being innovative. nothing's immune to reinvention - you think you've seen it all until you realize you haven't. enter stage left VB's delightful skirt:
part pleated, part fitted...just when we were starting to think it was impossible to have the best of both worlds :) now if only we could figure out who makes this skirt :( anyone know?
more posts coming soon!
