spotlight: african print

except you're new to this blog (WELCOME :-)), you know how much we love to keep you updated on who's doing what with african print. well, nothing has changed in that department. we're currently digging marni's spring '09 take on what appears to be tie-and-dye (popularly called "adire" in parts of nigeria):

advocates that we are of throwing bits and pieces of african patterns and motifs into everyday on-the-go looks, we're loving how marni has spruced up this look with a simple adire pencil skirt. it's always the little things. and uber hot model sessilee lopez looks positively off the chain in this shoot for allure magazine. speaking of tie-and-dye, here's anna wintour...

...wearing what looks suspiciously like a sequin-encrusted tie-dye blouse, also by marni. excuse us while we drool.
