fyi: talkwithfunmi.com launches, show premieres on Feb. 7

last november, we posted a preview of Funmi Iyanda's upcoming show, Talk With Funmi. for those of who have no idea who she is, here's a brief synopsis: dubbed Nigeria's Oprah, Funmi Iyanda was a talkshow host and she brought "New Dawn with Funmi" into our lives for many years. she made us laugh, she made us cry, and she made us pause and think. New Dawn with Funmi ended after several successful years of being on air and after a brief hiatus, Funmi's back (bigger and better!!) with a new show, Talk With Funmi. we received the notification below this morning [please click CONTINUE READING below to read the complete post]:

on repeat: funmi iyanda//deola sagoe jeans

we'll never tire of featuring the undoubtedly fabulous ms. iyanda. today, we're focusing on her black skinny deola sagoe jeans. ms. iyanda was first pictured rockin' 'em @ a chimamanda adichie book signing in new york. she was later spotted re-rockin' 'em whilst chatting with okada riders for her new show, talk with funmi

we love.

who wore what: genevieve pink ball '09

genevieve magazine's pink ball has come and gone and here are some runway pieces from nigerian designers that made it to the red carpet:

o o o

- first up, we have the always dazzling funmi iyanda in a Deola Sagoe piece, first seen at her Africa Rising show in DC last year. funmi iyanda definitely gets major cool points for stepping out in such an unexpected but ultra fabulous choice:

ms. iyanda also seems to be wearing the highly coveted satin manolo blahnik pumps that she blogged about here:

super fly!!

- next up, we have a piece from Ituen Basi's ankara and beads collection. we're digging this adapted ankara-style flapper dress and the creative use of beads as straps.

- finally, here's another attendee in an adapted deola sagoe piece, as seen on designer deola sagoe herself, courtesy of elan/234next.com:

loving the mish-mash of iridescent fabric and ankara.

throwback: funmi iyanda in MOMO + frank osodi

african print is virtually as ubiquitous as denim...or at least it's about to be. and photos like these remind us why - it works remarkably well with other fabrics and stands out without drowning them out completely. above, funmi iyanda wears a MOMO by fati asebuela piece constructed from ankara and tulle...

...and below...

...she works a frank osodi creation to perfection. the woman is glamazin' and here she is live and direct in all her glory speaking about her foundation, change a life:
