fyi: talkwithfunmi.com launches, show premieres on Feb. 7

last november, we posted a preview of Funmi Iyanda's upcoming show, Talk With Funmi. for those of who have no idea who she is, here's a brief synopsis: dubbed Nigeria's Oprah, Funmi Iyanda was a talkshow host and she brought "New Dawn with Funmi" into our lives for many years. she made us laugh, she made us cry, and she made us pause and think. New Dawn with Funmi ended after several successful years of being on air and after a brief hiatus, Funmi's back (bigger and better!!) with a new show, Talk With Funmi. we received the notification below this morning [please click CONTINUE READING below to read the complete post]:

spotlight: GREY by obi obi and ruki ladoja

first, the back story: we were in Lagos a while ago and "Grey" kept popping up - in idle chatter, in magazines, online, etc. we paid attention. we LOVED. and the price tags? nothing pretentious or stuffy. we'll say it again: NOTHING PRETENTIOUS OR STUFFY. how often do we see that with out-of-africa brands? nowhere near often enough. with that, our love affair with Grey started. now, to the main story:

in their words: so listen! this is not couture. it's not even high fashion. it's just clothes. great wearable clothes, designed and made by the 'boy and girl of Grey.'

why we love 'grey': because it's a collaboration between a boy (obi obi) and girl (ruki ladoja) who clearly understand the art of fabulous pieces with price points that don't break the bank. because anyone who's looking to invigorate her work wardrobe finally has somewhere to turn, and because, let's face it, there's absolutely NOTHING grey about grey :-) grey is a surefire recipe for instant fabulousness and it's in your best interest to jump on the bandwagon while there's space.

oh, and good news! GREY's hosting an event this sunday, dec 20th. get ready to shop, folks!:

yes, we said it -- we'd rather be in lagos. lots and lots of exciting events coming up this weekend...that we can't attend...BECAUSE WE'RE NOT IN LAGOS! :-( also, unfortunately, we have these things called jobs, projects, and no $$ to fuel our jets (...) so we're just going to have to make do with pictures. all that said, we're especially looking forward to MINT CONDITION. why should you care? well, registered members of the FASHION AUCTION HOUSE will be able to bid on the most fabulous pieces from some of the most enviable closets...and if that's not enough to convince you to go, we don't know what else to tell you! a little more about FASHION AUCTION HOUSE, maybe? it's the brainchild of tokini peterside and basically,

"Fashion Auction House specialises in luxury fashion items, and is an independent, transparent intermediary between collectors and lovers of beautiful things."

beautiful things like this:

like we said, WE'D RATHER BE IN LAGOS :-(
